Ready for the 2022 Season

After lots of work and a fresh coat of paint, Firefly is no longer a land lubber and is set to sail. The winter maintenance period has finally come to an end, marking an exciting transition back to the water where she belongs.

The past few weeks have been a flurry of activity at the boatyard. Our major projects included a complete bottom job - scraping, sanding, and applying fresh antifouling paint to protect Firefly's hull through another season of sailing. The blue and white color scheme looks particularly striking against the clear spring sky as she was hoisted for launch.

Safety always comes first in boat maintenance, as evidenced by our careful use of protective equipment while working with marine paints and materials. The respirator may not be the most fashionable boating accessory, but it's essential gear for these maintenance tasks!

Some of this season's improvements include:

  • Fresh bottom paint application
  • Inspection and maintenance of through-hulls
  • Polishing and waxing of the topsides
  • Safety equipment checks and updates
  • Engine maintenance and fluid changes

With the hard work behind us, we're looking forward to getting back on the water and making the most of the 2022 sailing season. The forecast looks promising, and Firefly is ready for whatever adventures await - from casual day sails to longer weekend cruises around the bay.

Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on another season of sailing stories and nautical adventures aboard Firefly!
